Coconut Dahl


This dahl is quick and simple, but is perfect on its own or as an accompaniment for a good, homemade curry such as my almost chicken balti.

Serves 3-4

Ingredients
250g red lentils
400ml coconut milk (not light)
2 large tomatoes, chopped finely
1 tsp turmeric
2-3 long green chillies, finely sliced
1 white onion, finely sliced
300ml water

Method

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a pan.
  2. Mix thoroughly, and bring to the boil.
  3. Reduce to a gentle simmer for 20 minutes, stirring regularly.
  4. Once the lentils are tender, the dahl is ready to serve.
